Before installing a CLIQ shank it is important to test the rings strength. Keep in mind that a mechanical ring shank will react to forces differently than a standard ring shank so what may be considered “strong” for a standard shank, may not have sufficient strength to accommodate a mechanical application. For that reason, a simple strength test should be performed before attempting any installation. 1.) Cut the bottom of the ring 2.) Apply reasonable force 3.) If the ring bends at all then reinforcing the ring will be necessary. When in doubt… REINFORCE!
