Using the Redi-Channel Rechanneling Kits

Redi-Channel is the quick and easy way to rebuild a channel on a ring without having to use solder flush sheet.

Since it is pre-soldered, you always get a uniform solder thickness, with no run-out. Redi-Channel is also pre-cut to different sizes and widths, so you get a better shear than with cutting your own solid flush sheet. It is also easier to shape to the contour of the ring, which means you get a flush fit, without gaps.

Application of Redi-Channel is easy, illustrations and instructions are included with the kit.

Step 1. Select a Redi-Channel that is slightly larger or matches the width of the channel to be rebuilt.

Step 2. Measure and cut the Redi-Channel to the exact length fo the channel to be rebuilt. Use needle-nose pliers to shape Redi-Channel to the exact contour of the channel to be replaced.

Step 3. Apply a combined even mixture of boric acid and alcohol to ring to have channel rebuilt.

Step 4. Ignite this mixture so a protective coating of boric acid is burned on the ring.

Step 5. Apply a small thin layer of flux to the bottom of the prepared Redi-Channel.

Step 6. Apply prepared Redi-Channel (dark blue inked side up) to worn channel and align to match old worn channel.

Step 7. Use a small flame to direct heat on the ring until the solder on the bottom of the Redi-Channel flows and adheres Redi-Channel to worn channel.

Step 8. Be sure to let Redi-Channel’s pre-applied solder completely flow and tightly seal the new channel to the old worn channel.

Step 9. Apply Redi-Channel to other worn channels at this time.

Step 10. Use small file or rubber wheel and reshape to like new condition.

Step 11. Polish and clean. Polish ring then clean ring using ultrasonic and steam cleaner.

Step 12. Inspect using magnification.
