

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">"Guardian Angel” design was originally created during the French Revolution by Augustine Dupre. The legend of the "Lucky” angel coin began during the Reign of Terror in the mid 1790’s, when the coin’s designer claimed to have been saved from the guillotine by the lucky Angel coin in his pocket. By the mid 19th century, the Angel’s reputation for good luck was widely known. French captains seldom went to sea without one. Pilots in World War I believed the coin would safe guard them from the Red Baron. During World War II, the chief of Hitler’s Luftwaffe, Hermann Goering, confiscated all he could find, presenting them to ace German fighter pilots as rewards. This pure fine silver coin is an exact replication of the original pre–1900 coin.
