<P>In 1784 King Charles III of Spain ordered the paper currency be traded in for silver coinage. On Jan 11, 1784 El Cazador&nbsp; set sail for the port of New Orleans with the new currency and was lost at sea during the voyage. The loss of these coins triggered the expansion of the new nation known as the U.S.A. Spain was never able to stabalize the territory after the loss of the currency and in 1800, the reluctant Charles IV, was forced to sell Louisiana back the France. In 1803 Napolean sold the territory to President Jefferson for 3 cents an acre. That is why this coin is known as "the coin that changed the world"</P>
