
The History of Stuller
1970: Stuller Founded and Incorporated
After a few days at the local university, Matt Stuller decides he would rather build his own business than listen to others talk about it. Shortly thereafter, he founds Stuller Settings of Louisiana from the trunk of his car. His goal is to “build a business that caters to the unique needs of jewelry professionals.”
1972: First to offer toll-free ordering by phone
Stuller adds toll-free ordering by phone to its growing list of benefits in order to accommodate busy, independent retailers.
1985: Overnight Delivery
Stuller begins overnight delivery, which positions the company as the jewelry industry’s leading just-in-time supplier.
1989: US Senate Productivity Award
Stuller receives the US Senate Productivity Award for outstanding achievement in productivity and quality improvement.
1991: First Findings Catalog
Stuller debuts its first findings catalog giving retailers around the world the unprecedented ability to order toll-free from the manufacturer and receive delivery the next day on 98% of its vast inventory.
1995: Introduces Have It Your Way Customization Program
Have It Your Way allows jewelers to select a setting and desired complementing gemstones to create a customized piece of jewelry to ship within 3 to 5 working days. In 2005, Stuller re-launches Have It Your Way as Stuller Studio.
1997: Stuller Launches Stuller.com
Stuller launches its first user-friendly website which provides customers with detailed product descriptions and images complete with 24/7 order placement for over 200,000 jewelry-related items.
1997: Enter Jewelry Tools and Supply Business
The company joins the tools and supplies business and shortly thereafter releases The Stuller Tools Book: a comprehensive guide to the various tools and supplies for bench jewelers. It is the next logical step to provide a “one stop shop” for independent jewelers.
2005: Diamond Trading Company chooses Stuller as Sightholder®
Stuller becomes a DTC Sightholder®. With Sightholder distinction, the manufacturer begins to receive rough diamonds directly from the world’s leading rough diamond supplier, the Diamond Trading Company. The status allows Stuller to offer enhanced consistency, reliability in supply, assurance in the authenticity and integrity of diamonds. It also signifies compliance with the De Beers Diamond Best Practice Principles.
2005: Introduces X1 White Gold
Stuller introduces X1 White Gold, an affordable, durable metal alternative that holds its shine and color longer than its original White Gold counterpart. It is also more flexible, protective, and easier to set.
2006: Preform Sizing System Debuts
Preform sizing system’s unique features improve the quality of the finished piece while dramatically decreasing the sizing time from over 15 minutes to less than 2 minutes. Preform Sizing System is eventually named the Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America’s (MJSA) Innovation Award winner in 2007.
2008: DTC Renews Sightholder Status
After successful reapplication, Stuller continues its elite position as a DTC Sightholder® with the Diamond Trading Company for the 2008 – 2011 Supplier of Choice contract period.
